As a commercial practice the law of contract is fundamental to all tasks undertaken at Cobbetts. Our team assists both in respect of the legal issues but (perhaps more importantly) on practical matters, ensuring the best outcome to you and your tenants is achieved.

We have advised numerous associations on joint venture and co-operation agreements and in respect of a variety of special projects and specific schemes. We have advised several associations in respect of high value funding arrangements.

We have substantial experience in providing advice to registered social landlords in respect of a variety of licences, maintenance agreements and have a recognised team specialising in commercial matters with particular expertise in IT contracts and outsourcing. Our work is acknowledged and respected such that we have advised the Housing Corporation on the drafting and preparation of a Model Management Agreement for use by registered social landlords the length and breadth of the country.

So far as commercial law is concerned, we are one of the few firms with experience of e-government issues and are currently acting for one authority on their e-government project which has Pathfinder status. This project itself has raised numerous very serious data protection issues and our report to The Lord Chancellor's Department on the subject may lead to legislative changes in due course. In addition, we have advised a number of organisations in respect of high value procurement, in particular those relating to IT, hardware and consultancy and involving private sector partnership.
