The charities team has a close working relationship with the Charity Commission, which can be of great value when the need arises to approach the Commission on a client's behalf on a particular matter.  This has been strengthened by Cobbetts' inclusion on a select panel of practitioners able to be appointed as Receiver and Manager of charities which are deemed to be at risk.

Our experience means that we are well placed to advise charities facing a Charity Commission review visit or inquiry.

Recent matters include:

• acting for the trustees of a charity on the follow-up action required following a Charity Commission review list;
• advising a charity where trustee indemnity insurance had been taken out without authority under the constitution.
